Erin was introduced to CrossFit by her husband, Jeff, while studying to obtain her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University in Chicago. As a lifelong athlete, she quickly became enamored with the group training atmosphere and the constant challenge of CrossFit. Upon graduation from PT school, Erin and Jeff moved back to Santa Barbara – where they first met. Jeff had been a member of CrossFit Santa Barbara since its inception in a garage back in the early 2000s, and Erin quickly joined the gym when they returned to CA. When the pandemic hit in 2020, the previous owners of the gym were faced with a difficult decision: to close the gym, or sell it. Erin and Jeff decided that Erin would leave her regular PT clinic job, and take over ownership of CrossFit Santa Barbara. They moved the gym to its current location (relying on the excellent air flow to enable them to stay open!), and Erin simultaneously opened her own private PT practice: Foster Fitness & Physical Therapy, which is located within the same building as CFSB.

Unique Features and Facilities

Located in a former auto-body shop, CrossFit Santa Barbara features a total of 6 floor to ceiling roll up doors, that allow for a completely open-air training environment. Most days also feature an excellent cross-breeze through the space, rolling in off the ocean. We also have a physical therapist and myofascial release specialist on site, as well as Normatech recovery products (including compression legs, hips, and arms, as well as vibration technology) and HiDow electrical stimulation units to maximize your recovery and training performance.

Top-Notch Fitness Equipment

CrossFit Santa Barbara features an indoor-outdoor training space, with all of the amenties expected in a full scale CrossFit gym. We have a main gym space, plus an auxiliary room for personal training or small group classes. We are outfitted with multiple types of cardio equipment – including Rogue Echo, Assault, and C2 bikes, Concept 2 Rowers, Concept 2 Ski Ergs, a wide array of barbells (from 5# to 45#!), multiple GHDs, and every other major piece of equipment required for functional fitness workouts. We also have a shower on site, so that you can hit your training hard, and get right back to enjoying all that Santa Barbara has to offer outside of the gym!
